Dr. Dr. Perikles Simon world sports medicine expert heads anti-doping talks at ARC

Whether it be the Olympic Games, world championships or the Tour de France – Dr. Dr. Perikles Simon from the Johannes Gutenberg-University is a sought-after interviewee for the media. The sports medicine specialist and molecular biologist is at the cutting edge of the fight against doping in sport.

His contribution to the field of detecting doping amongst professional athletes includes being one of the original 7-member “Gene Doping” group of experts within the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), charged with developing strategies for the prevention and detection of non-therapeutic manipulation of gene/protein in sport.  His expert opinion has also been sought by the Sports Committee of the German Parliament.
